This is the day-to-day scope of the role, not an aspirational list.
Build and improve the retrieval pipeline that grounds every reply in a customer's own approved content.
Own confidence scoring, the thresholds that trigger human handoff, and the evaluation harness that proves changes actually help.
Design evaluation sets from real conversations so quality is measured against customer traffic rather than vibes.
Reduce hallucination and unsupported claims in customer-facing answers, and make failures visible when they happen.
Keep inference cost and latency within budget as conversation volume grows.
Requirements
What we are looking for.

Essential
- Hands-on experience shipping LLM features to production, not only prototypes or notebooks.
- Practical understanding of embeddings, vector search, chunking strategies, and reranking.
- Strong Python or TypeScript, and the ability to reason about a system end to end.
- Experience building evaluation pipelines and defending a quality claim with data.
- Healthy skepticism about model output, especially in customer-facing contexts.
Nice to have
- Experience with the Claude API or comparable frontier model APIs.
- Background in search relevance or information retrieval.
- Work on multilingual retrieval, which matters for our Arabic, French, Spanish, and Chinese customers.
