The work
What you will actually own.
This is the day-to-day scope of the role, not an aspirational list.
Design and maintain the core platform APIs that power the dashboard, the chat widget, and partner integrations.
Own webhook delivery and ingestion, including retries, idempotency, and signature verification.
Maintain billing and subscription flows on Stripe, including plan changes, usage limits, and failed payments.
Build the audit logging and access controls that customers ask about during security review.
Instrument the system so we find out about problems before customers report them.
Requirements

Essential
- Four or more years building backend services in production.
- Strong API design instincts and experience versioning an API that external teams depend on.
- Solid database skills, including query performance work and migrations against live data.
- Experience with billing or payments integrations and the edge cases they generate.
- A defensive mindset about auth, tenancy boundaries, and data isolation.
Nice to have
- Experience with real-time messaging infrastructure such as WebSockets or server-sent events.
- Background in queueing, rate limiting, or usage metering.
- Familiarity with SOC 2 or GDPR evidence collection.
